Aircraft Transporting US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft transporting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was identified in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The plane touched down following standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative said in a public statement.
Hegseth was returning from a brief trip to the city of Brussels during the flight.
This occurrence is not the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet carrying a top government figure has suffered mechanical issues.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was forced to turn back to Washington DC after suffering a technical issue.
