Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
