Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to block the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate issued a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities shared varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide ought to have stepped in when the decision to speak on the death was made.
