Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
